Simon Marsh

Head of Nature Protection , RSPB

Simon Marsh MBE is Head of Nature Protection, the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB). Simon is a chartered town planner and leads a team of legal, casework and policy experts with the goal of protecting and restoring nature in the UK, safeguarding the best sites for nature and threatened wild birds. 

He was awarded the MBE in recognition of his work as a member of the National Planning Policy Framework practitioners' advisory group. Before moving to the RSPB in 2004, Simon spent most of his career as a planning officer at Sefton Council, Merseyside, and Essex County Council, with a two-year break advising the Government of Mozambique. He is a graduate of the Universities of Durham, Sheffield and Liverpool.
